2011 SALE EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS!. TOPS $8000, AVERAGES $4113. It was a challenging and exciting few weeks here at Glengowan. NEW ZEALAND JULY 2011 In June 2011 we again visited the spectacular North Island where we attended the East Coast sales, selected the ‘Queen of Hearts’ heifer at Turihaua with the Herries from Alpine Angus and inspected some of the bulls and progeny from our previous purchases. It was gratifying to see just how well Kaharau 844 has grown out at his home at Cricklewood and he is definitely fulfilling his earlier promise of developing into an outstanding young sire.... MORE

GLENGOWAN PURCHASES A TURIHAUA HEIFER. At the Beef Expo in NZ in May 2011 we were very pleased to purchase a half share in a Turihaua heifer with Steve and Jen Herries of Alpine Angus NZ. The heifer which is to be selected from Turihaua was sold as lot 1 in the Expo's "Queen of Hearts" female auction. The proceeds of $11000 NZ were donated to the Christchurch Eartquake Appeal. ... GLENGOWAN SECURES SEMEN RIGHTS FOR KAHARAU 844.

In July 2010 we returned from another interesting and successful trip to the North Island where we attended the Annual East Coast Angus sales including Ratanui, Kaharau, Gisborne Combined, Turihaua and Turiroa. We also took some time off and visited the Bay of Islands where we attended the Waitangi sale.

 As we find every year, there was a great diversity in the bulls on offer and once again there was one bull which stood out for everyone. This year that bull was Kaharau 844, who achieved a whopping $47000 on sale day with most of the major NZ breeders doing their best to secure him. As auctioneer Bruce Orr said, 'The most important day in your breeding program is the day you buy your genetics'.... MORE
